Intersectionality From the Perspective of Feminist Activist Collectives in the Czech Republic
Dařílková, Linda ; Kobová, Ĺubica (advisor) ; Kolářová, Kateřina (referee)
Intersectionality is a topic that resonates with feminist activist collectives in the Czech Republic. Half of the collectives included in this research publicly identify as intersectional, while most of the remaining collectives identify with intersectionality at least to some extent. However, intersectionality is a complex theoretical concept, and one can ask how the collectives understand intersectionality and how they translate it into their practice. Much of the interviews revealed that discursive approaches to intersectionality are driven by an ethos of social justice, i.e. a better world for all. This implies an appeal to inclusivity, which was differentiated in several interviews between inward and outward inclusivity. Outward inclusivity was manifested by including more areas of social justice in the discourse and actions of the collective. At the discursive and practical level, I identified other, equally important, approaches to intersectionality, which I describe in this thesis. Intersectionality, in relation to the actual self-identification of collectives, also expresses an effort to distance oneself from exclusionary strands of feminism or activism in general, and in this respect intersectionality can also take on a normative character. Despite the research participants' largely (but...
Ethical and Political Implications of Thomas Piketty's Work on Economic Inequality
Miledova, Linda ; Salamon, Janusz (advisor) ; Benáček, Vladimír (referee)
French Economist Thomas Piketty, through a study of history and empirical data from different cultures and generations, argues that economic inequality, today, is not a natural outcome of the free market but has deeper roots. Piketty, indeed, asserts, through his extensive analysis of political systems and ideologies, that the trajectory of income inequality depends heavily on the power exercised by the state and other politically-motivated groups that aim to execute their personal agendas at the cost of the rest of society, namely, middle and lower classes. A historical and comparative analysis between various nations and how they justified inequalities in their governments shows that these gaps are politically driven. The results of a colonial eras and the wars are pure proof that inequalities are intentional and certain groups make sure that some countries and classes suffer from poverty for further control and power. Piketty claims that this status quo has become unsustainable and that global legislative changes ought to be implemented to reduce the gap between the rich minorities and lower classes. The French author proposes a progressive wealth tax that would impose higher taxes on wealthier individuals with capitals and assets. The revenues from these taxes will be used to better public...

At the conclusion of the theoretical part, the types of solidarity and the summary of the theoretical part are given. The practical part focuses on qualitative research to see how social workers in different areas of social work understand the concept of solidarity. The interview includes three parts. The first part focuses on meaning of the concept of solidarity for social workers. It is further clarified how much solidarity is important in the organisation, where they work. The last part of the interview is focused on expressions of solidarity between co-workers and clients. The conclusion of the theoretical part includes an evaluation of the research, in which there is also a comparison of respondents' responses. At the end of my bachelor's thesis, I present options for social workers on how to work with solidarity and the interconnectedness of solidarity with social work.

GALÍKOVÁ, Alice
Diploma paper is considering social ethical aspects of Welfare State. In the introduction is characterized Welfare State, it´s history, attitudes to it and the elementary typology of social state. The main part of the paper is divided into three parts - human being, family and state in relation to social state. From all three angles on that issue it appears that negative influence of contemporary (that means overinflated) is dominant. First of all it´s loss of responsibility for persnons own life, loss of motivation to work, own initiative and creativity and creating dependence on social benefits. There is obvious fundamental negative effect on family functionality, which social roles was mostly taken by state. Constant increasing of social benefits outgoings in exchange for political support of left-wing parties appears as destructive. This fact could eventually endanger democratic growth of state.

Liberal Critique and Reforms of Welfare State - The Case of Chile's Pension Reform
Žídek, Bohumír ; Angelovská, Olga (advisor) ; Potůček, Martin (referee)
My master thesis explores classical liberal attitudes towards the Welfare State. It deals especially with concepts developed by the so-called new classical liberals (also called neoclassical liberals) represented by scholars of the Arizona School. I use their ideas to reconstruct free-market liberal theory of social justice, which is then applied to pension reforms in Chile and Sweden. The thesis also recollects critiques of public pension systems by public choice theory scholars, which are then used to explore a nature of the aforementioned pension reforms. In cases of both reforms, these theoretical frameworks are used to evaluate data obtained by a desk research. Relevant documents and also data of international organizations and national statistical offices were used. In its last part, the thesis evaluates primary data obtained by semi-standardized interviews with seven Czech classical liberals and explores their attitudes towards both the free market liberal theory of social justice and pension reforms in Chile and in Sweden. Abstrakt Diplomová práce zkoumá vztah klasického liberalismu k sociálnímu státu. Zabývá se zejména koncepty vyvinutými takzvanými novými klasickými liberály reprezentovanými především badateli arizonské školy. Jejich ideje využívám k rekonstrukci tržně liberální teorie...
Attitudes of the Czech Political Parties with Respect to Public Job
Šlechtová, Markéta ; Kotrusová, Miriam (advisor) ; Novotný, Vilém (referee)
1 Due to the high public expenses connected with the classic welfare and other reasons, the European countries including the Czech Republic adopted certain measures falling within the workfare concept. One of them is the public service, which is construed as a help activity in favour of a municipality consisting in publicly beneficial services. The public service rule was enacted into Czech law in 2008 and has undergone several changes since that time. These changes resulted in the current legislation which became effective on 1 February 2017. According to the Advocacy Coalition Framework, it is possible within a policy subsystem to identify certain beliefs of the policy actors and their advocacy coalitions. This bachelor thesis aims to identify the beliefs of the political parties within the policy subsystem of public service in the Czech Republic with the focus on the policy core beliefs and to determine their advocacy coalitions in this subsystem.
